What Does ‘I Am Who I Am’ Mean in the Bible?
When God said, “I AM WHO I AM,” repeating “I AM” twice, He is stating His name, (LORD) Yahweh—His name forever. God was in effect, saying, He is. Period. He is stating He is the Eternal One who has no beginning or end. He is the really real, the ultimate reality—all reality is according to His will. Because He is Truth, His truth is absolute. I AM speaks to His omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience in and for all time. God is constant, and is in the past, the present, and the future. This baffles us because we live in a timeline of life, but God transcends all earthy patterns. Because He is God, there are many things about Him that will never be understandable, even when we reach glory. And that’s okay because He is God!’ ‘copied’
Don’t forget that Jesus is the I AM. Jesus in the New Testament is Yahweh. Please understand that claiming to be God or using His name as your own, is blasphemy.
“In the 1930s, a missionary asked an African girl of about six or seven years of age a most pertinent question: ‘Who is Jesus Christ?’ With a smile on her face, she responded cheerfully: ‘He is my Saviour and He lives within my heart.’
MATTERS OF FAITH. THE SCRIPTURE
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible which comprise the Old and New Testaments (Genesis to Revelation) are the only inspired and authoritative Scriptures to mankind. The Scriptures speak with a unique authority and are therefore the Sola Fide Regula {sole rule of faith} in the Christian life. GOD
We affirm that there is one, everlasting and true God who is a tri-unity of persons. God the Father from whom all blessings flow. The Son through whom and for whom all things were made. The Holy Spirit who is God’s personal and transforming presence.
SALVATION
We believe that the only ground for humanity’s acceptance by God is the work of Jesus, God’s Son, on the cross. Jesus died for us to redeem us from the curse of sin, rose from the dead to vindicate his claim of Lordship, ascended to the right hand of God’s throne in heaven, and now has poured out the Holy Spirit on all who believe in Christ. We affirm that salvation is by grace through faith alone, but produces a life of benevolent service to others. ‘copied’
