Jesus

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: “I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.” That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic, on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg, or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” C.S. Lewis

In what Christians call the Old Testament there are 16 prophecies that point to Jesus {Yeshua, Isa in Islam}.

There are many things written about him in all the books of the Bible, lets take a look at what was told about his coming and life.

1. Seed of Woman; Genesis Chapter 3
2. Born in Bethlehem; Michah 5
3. The time of his coming; Daniel 9
4. To be born of a virgin; Isaiah 7
5. Slaughter of the innocents; Jeremiah 31
6. Ascension to the Father’s right hand; Psalm 68
7. Flight to Egypt; Hosea 11
8. Declared the Son of God; Psalm 2
9. Galilean ministry; Isaiah 9
10. A prophet; Deuteronomy 18
11. To heal the broken hearted; Isaiah 61
12. Rejected by his own people; Isaiah 53
13. Triumphal entry; Zechariah 9
14. Betrayed by a friend; Psalm 41
15. Sold for 30 pieces of silver; Psalm 41
16. Accused by false witnesses; Psalm 35

The odds of just 7 of these things being fulfilled by one person is about 1 in 10 to the 17th power. If you read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. You’ll find that he fulfilled all of them.

According to Dr. David R. Reagan of Lamb and Lion Ministries;
He fulfilled more than one hundred distinctively different, specific prophecies about the Messiah’s First Advent.

“The claim of resurrection is vital to Christianity.
If Christ has been raised from the dead by God, then he has the credentials and certification that no other religious leader possesses. Buddha is dead. Muhammad is dead. Moses is dead. Confucius is dead. But, according to Christianity, Christ is alive.” R.C. Sproul

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:1-3 Unlike some will tell you, the word, Word means Jesus. It’s not a different being or a Spirit of some kind.

“The plainest reason why the Son of God is called the Word, seems to be, that as our words explain our minds to others, so was the Son of God sent in order to reveal his Father’s mind to the world. What the evangelist says of Christ proves that he is God. He asserts, His existence in the beginning; His coexistence with the Father. The Word was with God. All things were made by him, and not as an instrument. Without him was not any thing made that was made, from the highest angel to the meanest worm. This shows how well qualified he was for the work of our redemption and salvation.

The light of reason, as well as the life of sense, is derived from him, and depends upon him. This eternal Word, this true Light shines, but the darkness comprehends it not. Let us pray without ceasing, that our eyes may be opened to behold this Light, that we may walk in it; and thus be made wise unto salvation, by faith in Jesus Christ.” Matthew Henry

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, There will be no end. Upon the thrown of David and over His Kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice. from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

In the passages above Paul is telling us that Christ was the one who spoke to Moses. The God of the Old Testament is Jesus in the New Testament! Lets look at what else has been said about Jesus. “God replied to Moses, I Am Who I Am. Say to this to the people of Israel, I Am has sent me to you. God also said to moses, Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors- the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.” Exodus 3:14-15

“Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the Prophets.
Who do you think you are? Jesus answered. If I want glory for myself, it doesn’t count. but it is my Father who will glorify me. You say. He is our God, but you don’t even know Him. I know Him. If I said otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you! But I do know and obey Him. Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad. The people said, You aren’t even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham? Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am.” [Yahweh] John 8:53-58

“By the word of the Lord [Shema] the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” Psalm 33:6
“Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded; and it stood fast.” Psalm 33:8-9; John 1:1-3

“Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb; I Am the Lord, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone; Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself.” Isaiah 44:24

“For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens.” 1 Chronicles 16:25-26
“Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? Jesus said, I Am.[Yahweh] And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” Mark 14:61b-62

“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Evan so, Amen. I Am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, Says the Lord, who is and was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:7-8

“For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, and the Water, and the Blood; and these three agree as one. 1 John 5:7-8

THE CONFLICT OF THE CHRIST

“Think of Christ correctly. Take Him out of the man class. Put Him in the God class. He never had a beginning. He is an eternal being. Associate yourself with Him and you will become a recipient of the same eternal life that we saw manifested in during the days of His flesh. He was born into this life for a purpose.

We saw at Bethlehem was the consummation of that plan, the materialization of the original conception in the mind of the Infinite. Jesus Christ did not come to reform but to transform. Not to repair but to replace. Not to save us from wrong-doing but to save us from wrong-being. He came to bring life. The natural man is dead in trespasses and sin. He said: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

The personality of Jesus Christ is the hub, the great central fact of all Scripture. Both the Old and New Testaments and are woven around His majestic personality. He was born in a supernatural way. He lived in poverty. He grew up in obscurity. He had no wealth. He attended no college. Yet the profoundest wisdom of men has never equaled His discourses.

The record says: “Never man spake like this man.” He associated with sinners. He ate with publicans. In fact, one had to be a sinner to attract His attention. He said: “The Son of man is come to seek and to save, that which was lost.” He has power to transform human lives. He specializes in making bad people good. That is the greatest of all miracles, transforming sinners into saints. He never mobilized an army, drafted a soldier, or fired a gun. Yet no military leader has ever enlisted as many volunteers as those who take orders from Him. Great men have come and gone. He lives on.

Herod could not kill Him. People at a religious service could not stone Him. Satan could not tempt Him. Death could not destroy Him. The grave could not contain Him. Demons obeyed Him. He fed a hungry multitude with the lunch of a small boy. He broke up funerals. He gave life back to those who were dead. He said: I am the resurrection and the life.” He conquered death. He rose on the third day as He had previously announced. He ascended into heaven. He sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high. He is the perfect One. He is the chief among ten thousands. He alone can satisfy the soul and give everlasting life to those who will accept. He is altogether lovely.”
Dr. Gerald B. Winrod

“This most beautiful system of Sun, Planets, Comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful being”… “This being governs all things, not as the Soul of the world, but as L’ord over all; and on account of His dominion He is wont to be called L’ord God.” Sir Issac Newton

“You cannot receive what Jesus gives and refuse who Jesus is.” “We can’t confess Him as Lord and serve any other master.” Dr. Adrian Rogers

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24

In the book of Luke chapter 1, verses 31-33 there are six promises concerning Jesus. The first three have been fulfilled.
The last three are yet to happen.

1. You will conceive a son.
2. He will be called Jesus.
3. He will be called the Son of the Highest.
4. The Lord God will give Him the thrown of His father David.
5. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever.
6. Of His kingdom there will be no end.
